Down for the count

Last week was so busy. For some people that is normal. Not for us. We’re pretty laid back and go with the flow. That is all code, of course, for “we’re pretty boring”. But last week we had VBS every day, two evening social gatherings, I had to work twice and Chad had a free lance job on the weekend. We were all pretty pooped by weeks end. To top it off, Carter was too excited about all the activity I guess, and did not nap a single day. Arriving home from one of our social gatherings in the middle of the week, I turned to say something to Carter and found this…

Pretty much sums up how I was feeling by the end of it all.

Kids do weird things: Part II

Usually the kids like to take the plastic dishes out and stack them up, or fill them with things, pretend they are cars or just toss them all around the kitchen then run off and leave a mess behind. Not this day. Instead Hudson was walking around like this.

By the way, he was naked in the process of bedtime preparation, and yes, that is a cup from Tin Star.

I would love to tell you what he was doing but I was afraid to ask or give him any ideas.
(note from chad: i hope these pictures weren’t taken in order)

Happy Father’s Day

I know, I know, that was a week ago. But I figure it is never too late. We had a great family day going to church, playing in the yard, grilling and eating home made cheese cake icecream. Yummy! ( I have the recipe if you are interested) I am so thankful for Chad and the wonderful father and husband he is.

Chad, if I had known way back then how perfect we would be for each other, I would never have risked waiting for you to ask me, I would have proposed to you myself.

Especially if I had known how cute our kids would be.

What could be more perfect on a hot day.

I mean, a really hot day.

He gets pretty serious when it comes to playing in the dirt.

After The Storm

Several weeks ago, there were some tornados that touched down in the metroplex. I have never been very concerned about tornados. Growing up in California, earthquakes were the real deal. We had earthquake drills at school, I lived only hours away from LA when it had crumbled to the ground and I have been through many of them. To me, earthquakes were scary.  But this time was different. We watched through the windows of our home as the very still evening turned into a rip roaring storm with debri flying by at Indy car speed. I actually took my kids into the bathroom and we bounced on Hudson’s crib mattress, playing with a flashlight while the power flickered off and on. I prayed, of course, that the Lord would protect us and our home, all the while thinking what it would be like to have our roof ripped off, our house flooded or to find our car in a neighbors yard.
